NitramBelac
are there any torrent programs for linux?
Lowe
Yes, there is! Try out Azureus Great looking GUI and really easy to use. You need to download java though.
VeeDubb
personaly, I prefer to just use bittorrent from the command line. You can install it (and a basic GUI for it) from the contrib mirrors. once it's isntalled btdownloadheadless.py filename.torrent /destination/
Smorgje
I use btdownloadgui.py file.torrent --max_upload_rate 15 I need to restrict the upload, because it strangely tends to stop downloading due to my upload going overboard. (You need a bit of upstream to be able to download).
scarecrow
I use either Azureus (superb, but resources hungry- if you can afford that, then OK, else...) or XBTT (you have to compile it yourself from source, plus that the Linux version works only as a daemon, so you must have Apache and PHP running to control the daemon via the PHP interface- anyway, many Linux users will just love this idea...). I don't really like any of the python based BT clones, or the initial BT. Edited May 6, 2005 by scarecrow
iphitus
Azureus is superb, there isnt any better, and it's what I use but people are right, it chews the memory. I see it regularly taking portions as big as 20% of my 512mb. All the same, there isnt a better bittorrent client
papaschtroumpf
I wrote a post in the Tricks and Tips section in how to use bittorrent from the command line using screen and ssh, because I tend wanted to start/stop/monitor my torrent downloads remotely (from work). If you want an "all in one" app, Azureus sure is nice, although the regular bittorrent GUI for mandrake is much improved in version 4.1. To install simply do (as root): urpmi bittorrent urpmi bittorrent-gui Edited May 6, 2005 by papaschtroumpf
