Guest WetWired
I'm not sure if this is off limits to discussion, but I have yet to find a "good" P2P application for Linux. The best I've found thus far is aMule, but it still searches a crappy network, and doesn't have just a whole lot of options. I'd like to be able to search the FastTrack (Kazaa) network, but I've had nothing but hell with giFT. Is there another network as fast as FastTrack? If so, which one is it and which client searches it?
spiedra
I belive it's only Fast Track that will tap into kazaa. Have you tried GiFTCurs? It's a front end to GiFT which i've found to be very trouble free!
Steve Scrimpshire
There's mldonkey that can do fasttrack and i think limewire does, too. To install limewire, you need java installed correctly. See the FAQs forum.
aRTee
Still on good old edonkey command line client,... and bittorrent, this is definitely the best for Mandrakelinux, well, to download it I mean,.... ;)
devries
Kazaa-Lite installs with wine. But I have to agree, BitTorrent is the best. (www.suprnova.org)
feralertx
aMule is the one I use, the latest version 2.0 RC5 being very stable, and RC6 is coming out anytime soon...
Urza9814
kazaa sucks, limewire's hard to get installed...go for Gnutella-GTK. IMO, the Gnutella network is the best there is for music...except maybe Soulseek. Kazaa just SUCKS.
Lowe
I use DCTC. A client you can trust, just find a decent hub and your all set. :)
kmc77
I use a combination of Overnet and Limewire. Works well enough for me. And Limewire wasn't that hard to install.

papaschtroumpf
I taste very of the Bittorrent and to twirl the Kazza saw Wine :P <{POST_SNAPBACK}> bittorrent is great when you got a source. I was using azureus but now I use the command line version becaue I can control my torrents over SSH. When you want something but don't know where to get it, the other P2P can help. I use gtk-gnutella, but I used Limewire for a while (as long asyou have java installed properly, it should be a cinch to install it). There seems to be a lot of noise/spamming on the Gnutella network though, for example search for "Unreal Tournament 2004 Admin Guide" ( a perfectly legit free download) and you start getting "hits" for UnrealTournament2004AdminGuide.exe, UnrealTournament2004AdminGuide.jpg, UnrealTournament2004AdminGuide.mpg, Unreal_Tournament_2004_Admin_Guide.exe, Unreal_Tournament_2004_Admin_Guide.jpg etc... each file like 1.2G in size whereas the actual document is only a few hunderd Ks. It doesn't always happen, I think it depends which peers you connect to. Also note that those solutions (bittorrent included) do not offer any cloaking of your IP address, so if you download aor share cpyrighted material, be ready for the consequences.
