SoulSe
My box is on a network with two windoze machines, I am trying to print through one of them. I couldn't print until I disabled shorewall. Weird? I thought so. It shouldn't be blocking outgoing print requests? I guess it's time to look at other firewall solutions.... Ronin
Does it go like all good firewalls have a default deny written into it?
theYinYeti
A firewall only does what it is said to do. If it is blocking a port you need, just unblock it. The problem is to find which port it is...

Relic2K
Yes a good firewall will block access to printer ports, it is a service just like any other service that runs in any OS. You may want to manually add the printer port to your LAN settings only. 515 tcp/udp for printer spooler 9100 tcp/udp if you are using HP Jet Admin.
