which Linux distro for 1998 PC ?

Do you have a DVD reader you can temporarily hook up.

 

I have a MDK 8.2 DVD which i can post (where are you exactly)

I also have 8.1 CD sets but Id stay away from 8.1 without updates!

It was the big glibc changeover....

The problem I would see with running an old distro is updates(security & bug fixes).

 

You should really consider looking into something like vector or slackware.
