Zend
I finally got my system all setup and running fine, but im trying to install the drivers from source since i have MDK 9.2 and there are no precompiled drivers. I unpack the source and try to do a make on it but it has error after error, it keeps complaining about "nvnet.o" and i dont know what to do. Any ideas? scoopy
The rpm will compile on its own... this is why kernel-source is required before installing. http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=4567 Edited March 12, 2004 by scoopy
Zend
You realize its not for a nvidia video card but the nforce2 chipset right?
scoopy
:o I was basing my reply on the thread's title, I am not really familiar with nforce2 and was just thinking along the lines of a GeForce, which is a nVidia card. EDIT ADDED: now I am confused. ( http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce.html ) Edited March 12, 2004 by scoopy
tyme
either way, his suggestions stands: install the kernel-source package :) you'll need it to build the driver urpmi kernel-source Edited March 12, 2004 by tyme

spiedra
If you fire up Mandrake update, you'll find it there. Make sure it matches with the kernel you are running. Or add some sources to urpmi from contrib or cooker and some other sites then as root type: urpmi kernel-source Edited March 12, 2004 by spiedra
Zend
Thats the thing, i dont have internet access from my linux partition yet. Thats what these chipset drivers are for, audio, network, and gart.
spiedra
Only other thing I can think of, from windows download it from contrib or maybe from cooker, burn it to a disc, then install it from the disc.
Zend
I heard someone mention a forcedeth ethernet driver for nforce2 mobo's? I did a search on google but didnt find much, how do i get it and install it?
spiedra
Don't know. There are some people here that run nforce2 that would be happy to point you in another direction. One thing I forgot to mention, if you have windows on that same pc, you can also download the kernel source from windows, then boot into Linux and cd over to the Windows partion and install it that way as well. Note: Another option would be to upgrade to the latest kernel 2.6.x which includes support from nforce2. There's another post about this issue that you can have a look at. It's in this section.
