  1. Of course you can sign up for the UT2003 Linux mailing list, which would mean that if no one on the list can fix it, and it is confirmed as a bug, the guy who has the power to fix it will actually read your message... In fact, he usually replies to any messages that hit the list, if no one else gets to the fix before he does.

    Half Life

Thanks. :D The URL would be the same as before, if the server was actually online. I *do* have an update planned, but I'm caught up in school right now and so on. Anyhow, TTYL.
  3. Just buy it at EB! Seriously, use wget -c URL and you'll be fine.

    Half Life

Sheesh. If I had a PS2, it wouldn't matter what game it was, or what platforms it's for, I'd get it for PS2. Why? Because then you have no problems with GL, crappy sound, etc etc. But I'd also buy the Linux native verison at some point, just because I like to collect games. :D BTW, I got MediEvil 2 last night for PSone and also a mini arcade stick. :D Tekken 2 is SWEET with an arcade stick, LET ME TELL YOU.

You'll most likely have a better eXPerience in Windows anyhow. RTCW is a *great* game. If you go on IRC sometime, we could play some MP games online together. :) BTW, yeah, I made that logo. I was thinking that your posts were mine, and I was like "What? I never wrote that!" then I saw your name... Then I thought, "cool!" heh. You can use it, anyone can. Timedoctor.org uses it as well, with my permission. :) It is a cool site. Hope you go on IRC sometime. I just got a new PSone game, gonna go play it now.

I don't see why anyone would like BF1942 more than RTCW. For one thing, I've been using Linux only since before BF came out, so I didn't buy the game. I don't plan to buy the game unless it gets ported, and even then I will still think twice about it. I tried it once, and the game is just not that good, especially when compared to RTCW's multiplayer. If I had neither game, and had to choose one, I'd be buying RTCW for two reasons: 1) it's a native port; 2) It is a better game, and in fact, is basically two games in one, since the sp and mp games were developed separately and have a different feel to them.
  7. Well, Unreal 1 wasn't ported. It was hacked together using the OpenUT source. I doubt this one will be ported. I'm sad. But oh well, I have to save my pennies for the 4 games LGP is putting out, as well as Doom 3. Still sucks for the rest of the world.

You don't need WineX just to play Half-Life. Wine has been playing it just fine for years. I wouldn't use it though. I'd move on and choose a new game. Something that doesn't suck. ;) j/k Seriously though, I didn't like HL. I like UT, Quake 3 Arena, and RTCW much better. With all the mods out there for UT and Q3, you should be able to find something like CS, if that's what you're after.
  9. Email Legend and Epic and ask them if there will be Linux support. They won't know we want it unless we ask for it. (Don't be mean about it though!!) I emailed them. No official word yet, they told me to write back soon.
  10. tyme, I LOVE the Legend of Dragoon so far - it's 4 discs, but I'm still on the first one. It reminds me a LOT of the good old days of playing RPGs on my SNES... It's better than the more recent FF games, IMHO. FF: Tactics got good ratings, but I have yet to play it for more than 5 minutes (I wanna finish LoD first). It looks okay, but not as nifty as LoD. One disc only. Syphon Filter 2 is good. Interesting split-screen MP mode, haven't played the single player game much at all. Actually, haven't played the game much at all. Mostly been playing Tekken 2 and LoD. It's okay. If you like RPGs, I'd get LoD. It does have some amusing translation issues, but overall, the game is too fun and interesting and pretty so far to let that bother me. (For example, sometimes they will scream "Bastard!!" at my character where something more appropriate should have gone. heh.)
  11. Update your bookmarks: http://icculus.org/~dolson/mdkxp/ That's where the site will reside for now (until either icculus tells me it's not appropriate, which I don't think will happen) or until the server reappears. Coming soon: Text-only version of the site for quick browsing.
  12. In other news, some people have already decided to switch to Debian. I haven't decided yet. I don't think that running from one distro to another will help, but the 20 000 reported Club members that pay their $5 per month sure don't seem to be helping them... Me buying into Mandrake now isn't going to help either. After all the good financial reports, they spring this out on us all? Well, I think something pretty strange is going on there... Gentoo looks inviting, but it's nothing more than a BSD-wannabe version of Linux. I'll just install BSD if that's what I want (and quite possibly that is one thing I will do - right overtop of my Slackware partition). Anyhow, I hope Mandrake survives this, but it's still going to be a huge blemish on their record... They should go back to being a non-profit organization I think. There is no money in Linux. Not yet. Feel free to flame me, disagree, whatever. We're all people and all have our own opinions on this matter. You've read mine.

    Karting Race

http://steinware.dk/downloads.php?title=KartingRace Looks cool, will try it soon:
  14. That would explain why we couldn't find it here! :P
  15. I just bought Tekken 2. I'll download this game when it wears off. :)
  16. If I didn't post it, I certainly meant to. :) It's on my new games page, but still, lots of people don't look at that, and I don't blame them, as it's not completed yet.

    Doom 3 4 Linux

Yeah, well, you can play games like UT, Quake, etc. using aalib, which converts it to ascii characters, so that's prolly all it was. SDL, if compiled properly, allows you to specify aalib as the video driver, so pretty much any SDL program can use it. Also, there's a nifty version of Quake 1 called NPRQuake and it allows you to play the game in sorta artsy format (like, sketches, brushed, etc).
  18. Hmm.. Yeah, I thought that this was posted about here a while back. Maybe not, but if so, it never hurts to announce things over again, just so more people can find out. :)

    Doom 3 4 Linux

I'll be playing this game in a 40x30 window if I have to!
  21. My guess: because XP sucks ass and Microsoft couldn't give two shits about backward compatability. But that's just a guess, and it's probably wrong.
  22. yeah that would be ok but the thing is i dont dual boot either, and i do buy legit games aswell, at the moment i own all 3 quakes and ut, ut2003 which are working on linux, i had them in windows days except ut2003, that was one of the bonuses of there installers! Well, there are others too. I posted the link to the list earlier, I think, and there are even others that I didn't yet list. They're out there. If you don't want to "re-buy" any games, you should buy other games first then. There are quite a few games to buy, if you don't have enough money to buy them all immediately. See the link in my signature. :)

    Doom 3 4 Linux

Please note that it's an ESTimated release date, and not an official release date. Do not get mad at TuxGames, as if they can control publishers, if the game is delayed. It's not their fault. Lots of people got mad at them because they keep changing the release date for NWN, but is it really their fault?? NO. Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to Doom III, but I want that Bandits game even more!
  24. Bah. I mixed them up. Bandits isn't released, or it was just released for Windows, but the other one, Ballistics, has been out for a little while. I found the screenshots, and it's apparently a fast racing game. I really wanna try both, but I think I'll enjoy Bandits more.
  25. Firstly, look at this: http://www.bandits-game.com/screenshots.htm That game looks *really* nice. I've never heard of it until now, but it looks amazing. I'm buying it for sure. I didn't see the other game yet, but it's by the same company and isn't released yet.
