It is a tool allowing you to install software and updates known in the linux world as packages. The packages are stored within repositories on remote servers called mirrors.
Well, unfortunately, those messages do not mean anything to me.
I am using 2008.0. Are there any other 2008.1 users out there who are having Amarok problems?
Yes we are.
I contemplated making a comment regarding the whiny tone presented by dan in Jersey but decided against it. I sensed he was frustrated. I am not sure he would have been treated so well on a different forum.
RVDowning:
I use an nvidia related startup file with a single line in my ~.kde/Autostart folder. It works just fine :unsure: and looks like this:
#!/bin/bash
nvidia-settings --load-config-only
Just be sure to save this file as an executable file after placing it in ~.kde/Autostart folder.
Hope this helps.
Sometimes my Belkin KVM switch does funny things. I find that if I am having problems the first thing to do is "reboot" the KVM. Shut down both computers so that power is removed from the KVM. Then start up the computers one by one.
Try to install again, this time deleting any partitions from the previous installation attempts.
The "live" CD stalling at the same point tells me there is something wrong with the hard disk. Maybe removing the previous partitions will rectify this.
When you say "clean disk" do you mean newly created partitions? Are you using partitions from previous installation attempts? This would be a bad idea if yo have had problems.
yossarian's suggestion is a good one. In addition to fixing your current problem, setting up URPMI will allow you to download and install system updates.
