kdm now uses themes as default, I think you have to remove that to be able to see the user icons.
Try this:
In the file:
"/etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc"
change the line:
"UseTheme=false"
to:
"UseTheme=true"
Give it a try...
What errors do you get when running " XFdrake --expert " ?
for Xorg.0.log:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | more
in the console and look for lines starting with "(EE)"
Thats right. You need libstdc++.so.5 and you can find it in contrib.
Go to:
http://www.mandrivausers.org/easyurpmi/
and follow instructions to add contrib (and others)
then:
urpmi libstdc++5
in a konsole as root
