Same exact problem here.. find a single layer DVD and see if that plays. I seem only to have issues with dual layer DVDs in xine and mplayer

I Just upgraded to Mandriva 2006 and I cannot see to get xine to play any dual layer DVD's. It reads the title (the dvd title appears on the menu bar in Xine) but then is says: "The source cannot be read. Maybe you don't have enough rights for this, or source doesn't contain data (e.g. not in disc drive) (Error reading from DVD)" When I read under the "more" button in on the Error dialog bos it says "audio_decoder: error unknown buffer type: (01060000, 04000000, 020000000) (I am flushing netfix bucks down the drain here!!!)

So what you are saying is install a differnet gui? Never Heard of iceWM.

I have a 266 mhz micron laptop with 128mb of ram. WAY TO FREAKIN' SLOW for Mandrake. Any sugestions? Tried live cds of puppy and dsl, but video is all screwed up (like 1 color, can't read anything)

I cannot see any windows minimized or not in my task bar. I have read kde help to no avail. I don't know what I did. Anyhow the only way I can switch between running apps or to even see what is running is alt tab. Please help if anyone has any idea!

My usb 2 is not working at usb2 speeds. Is there anywhere you can check settings on usb. Tried dual boot with windows and It doesn't seem to work there either. Any Ideas. maybe the bios?

Sorry for all the dumb ?s, but I just open Konquoror and go to /mnt and it should be there? I am not getting an Icon when I plup the CF card reader in.

Now is there a way to get, for example a data cd to auto mount and open konquoror?

Okay... I just reinstalled Xine after removing it...(still stuck with that windows mentallity) anyhow Xine works so I must have been missing a plugin or something. I would rather have it play in Xine anyhow since mplayer doesn't support DVD menus. It still doesn't play in Mplayer but my heart ain't broken.

So if you set up your DVD/CD/Zip...whatever to automount it should act like a windows right. Like you put a CD in and MS will spin it up and read the file index so when you click on the device it will be right there. Is this how automount is supposed to work with mandriva? I am still have to manually mount it or make a device icon on the desktop and then doubleclick it to get it to mount...is this normal or am I missing the boat?

Where then do I access the card? Do I have to setup a device mount for it automount???

Does anyone have a 4600 series scanner that works with Mandrivia? All the documentation says that it is unsupported. I am not sure what that means...meaning it won't work come heck or high water or it just hasn't been fiddled with enough by someone to figure it out? :unsure:
