  1. Yeah I have seen screenshots too of people running windows inside of linux. However I don't know how they do it but it will be nice knowing. I tought that wine was just to let programs that usually are ment for windows run on Linux, I know that my friend has that to like play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. I don't think it's unreal it's possible, but to some of the screenshots that I saw I don't think they were Mandrake, they look totally different. -Luis
  2. Ok I'm running KDE and the message is this, " The xscreenSaver daemon doesn't seem to be running on display "0.0". Launch now? " Don't know what that daemon thing is. Umm if you read the posts, that was on my friends computer, and the GLMatrix works fine on my computer I just don't really like it so thats why I'm not running it. But I'll go ahead and check if direct rendering is on right now............... Lol that sucks, this is what I get. $ glxinfo |grep direct direct rendering: No OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect Hmm thats odd, because usually when it said no on my friends computer it would not run GLMatrix at all, it will display some error message. On mine to tell you the truth it runs a little slow but since it ran, I thought it might of have been installed. But when I typed in the code I don't think I got the " OpenGL " message before, on my friends computer it just the " No " line. -Luis
  3. Wow Im glad they didn't close this down, hey how come when I shutdown my computer or restart it the scrensaver doesn't run? I just restarted my computer to install some other files and the screen saver would not run. I typed in xscreensaver and it said that something was not running, so it asked me to launch it and I did and then the screen saver started to run. Also just a few seconds ago I went to click on " Add Reply " and my desktop started all over. Pretty much like reboted or someting. -Luis

  6. I don't know much about those slide shows, but if you want you can check the post about the matrix screensaver, it has the directions to install xscreensaver-gl which is a program that has a tons of screensavers, and If I'm correct it has a few slide shows on it. I'm currectly using that matrix one. And it's very cool because it looks as if someone was hacking into a computer or something and then the code start to move and stuff, very neat. -Luis

Lol all I did was just restart the computer and nows it's downloading that plf file. So how does the contrib look? Does that mean that the file is installed and working? As soon as it's done I'll do the rest. umm do you still recommend that I use Totem, or is this like some other Media player? -Luis
  9. Al, So did you get it installed? Lol dam dude now I have Baseball twice a day, I don't think I can pull any more late nighters. Hi again, I tried to play a DVD with that Todem program but it says that it has run into a fatal error and cannot play the DVD I have selected, this sure didn't have with that Windows Player, also I kinda got some bootleg videos that are burned on to CD-R and usually Windows will play that but Totem won't. So I'm asking what can I do or what other media player can I download that will let me play these videos. Umm also does what program is good for playing these videos that are in urpmi? Oh yeah Music Cd's play fine. And if you guys need to know what kind of cd rom I have just tell me how to get that info, Im used to typing " dxdiag " on windows. -Luis
  14. Hey guys, Right now I have both inkscape and Gimp installed. I would like to know how to install an Avatar, I already designed the picture with my name and everything and saved it as an .jpg and I believe it says something about it being below the 120 KB. Ok so I just took the picture which I use for my desktop, and I upload it onto the avatar but when I do the picture comes up all messed up and blurry. And for some reason I can't open the one that I put my name on, it just uploads the normal one, even when I make sure that the right file is being uploaded. I find gimp much easier to use but just I don't know how to make the picture come out clear, also when I resize the picture should I resize it before I save it or do it when Im going to upload it. And also how do make a signature besides text? Some one said that I havwe to use my own website for the pictures. -Luis
  15. Hmmm Im still lost I got the picture running but why the hell is that dam thing so dam blurry? Should I post? or what? -Luis
  16. Hey tyme you can delete this post now, I don't know if you might want to leave it incase other people might want to look at it. If that's so then just lock it or whatever. -Luis

  18. Yah I understand but I just don't want to be the only one to start a new topic for every little issue that I have. I just wanted to save some space. But if you say so ok then. -Luis, I guess this issue is resolved so you can like close it down or something...
  19. How can I make the picture more clear? This is surely not what it's supose to looks like I tried messing around with the size but that doesn't help. Also how do I put another picture in my signature, it says that I need like special permission to do that? -Luis
  20. Can anyone help me with how to save and open files on inkscape? I actually got to save it but it won't open. Also when I try and apply an avatar the picture is in .jpg format and it says that it supports it but when I write the directory where it's loated it says that it can not open the file or something, I really want to get an avatar and create a cool looking signature. My own style and stuff the tutorial on inkscape goes over very little about the saving and opening. -Luis
  21. What exactly do you mean? Do you want to run dual-Display? Dual display you need any video card that supports " Nview ". You can find one at www.Tigerdirect.com or at www.newegg.com Like I said just look for a vide card with Nview, on tiger direct it tells you more about it. One thing tho is that dual display does not work with games, with dual-display you have the option of expanding your desktop, this will split your desktop into two monitors usually people use two flat panels, that are specially designed to be together or you can have two different monitors and have for say Mozilla on one screen and have Kword on the other. This is what I do with dual display. And about the part if they run into problems I don't know haven't tried it on Linux, I guess it's up to trial and error  -Luis
  22. Lol Darkdevel he's my friend not my brother. lol. Anyways the cd into the directory worked and I got the matrix stuff installed. Also can I delete the files after I donwload them? I alrady downloaded and installed this matrix stuff but there is still a file on my computer. Can I delete and if I do will that mess up or also delete the installed file? Hmm thats for the link seems like a really good website. I guess Linux is fun once you know mostly everything about it. It seemed hard at beginning but now it's more easier. -Luis
  23. What do you mean in the right directory I didn't know that you had to be in the directory to install it, I haven't tried it. I am already logged in as root as you can see by the # if i had the $ then thats just user. Umm Im going to try what you recommended right now. It should work or something. By being in the directory to you mean cd into where I downloaded, because if thats the issue than no I haven't tried it. Also how do I open files on Inkscape or how do I create my own avatar I did one on inkscape but I can open it. -Luis
  24. Now I can't find anything on there about the matrix screensaver, so Im going to download the plf screensaver that I believe scoopy recommended here is what Im going to type in and please correct me if its wrong. # rpm -ivh xscreensaver-matrix-4.14-4plf.i586.rpm Hopefully this will work.......... -Luis Lol it didn't, what should I do this is the message that I get # rpm -ivh xscreensaver-matrix-4.14-4plf.i586.rpm error: open of xscreensaver-matrix-4.14-4plf.i586.rpm failed: No such file or directory
  25. Well thanks, I followed Iphitus directions and found it my self, and I removed it. Now when I typed in # urpmi xscreensaver-gl It asked me for Cd 2 which I have! and then right now it's downloading something so Im guessing it's freaking working. Lol anyways how do I fix this rendering program thing? Or the rendering is included in the screensaver-gl package? -Luis
