  1. hey I have think about that and you basically have 2 solutions. I posted them at the following link: http://www.club-nihil.net/mub/viewtopic.ph...6720&highlight= MottS
  2. Well, if don't know how to use a screwdriver then go for it. Otherwise my motherboard was held in place by 6 littles screws and each additionnal cards (3 pci and 1 agp) by 1 screws. So 10 screws now. Then 4 other per cdrom/dvdrom/burner/floppy/harddrive. I have 1 burner, 1 dvd, 1 floppy and 1 hard drive so 16 screws. Grand total : 26 littles screws so 130$/26screws = 5$/screws Does it really worth it? My opinion: DO IT YOURSELF!!! .. you'll learn how to use a screwdriver (if you don't know yet) and you'll have 130$ to go get drunk after.. lol. And you have REALLY good beer in BC so you are lucky! .. Get a pack of kokanee (that was my prefered one when I was in whistler) MOttS
  3. after you click on "Host Multiplayer Game" go to the "Server" options tab, there is a checkbox for "Dedicated Server", click that. and when you click start it will exit out of the game and start a terminal window which i would guess to be the dedicated server. This is exactly what I was looking for :-D Thanks to pointing that out to me .. MottS
  4. A yeah that's true. When you actually configure ICS in the MCC you have to tell it on which eth is your LAN. However you only have 1 eth so you lose your connection.. I personnaly have 2 ethernet card and bridged vmware to eth1, the same as my LAN, on which ICS is enabled. So, my eth0 receives the signal from my ISP and I share it via eth1 (LAN and vmware). If you only have 1 nic I'm sure there is a way but I don't know how. Have you look at the network section on the vmware website? http://www.vmware.com/support/ws3/doc/network_ws.html Sorry. MOttS
  5. what about trying another x driver with xine? Using the console try to start xine will something like xine -V OpenGL or xine -V XShm If you type 'xine -help' you'll see all the available video driver. Hope this help MottS
  6. What you could do is to enable ICS (internet connection sharing) in your mandrake box. Then, the vmware workstation would get its ip from your dhcp server... all internally. This is what I'm doing. I have two network card. Eth0 is connected to the net and eth1 to my LAN (my girlfriend's Mac). My ISP allow only one IP per phone number (adsl). So I share my internet connection with my girlfriend's computer as well as my win98 in vmware. You have to have Bridged network enable in vmware so that your win2k act just like another computer.. If you want more details let me know MOtts
  7. Well I have the full version (3cds) and really often play but I'd like my computer to serve to others when I'm away (university). This is why I'd like to host games (I'm on adsl so not that bad). When I double clic the ut2003 icon I see a sectino named 'Host multiplayer game' but if I start it I'm put in the game (like I have to play). But I just want to host.. not play! I guest I could just go away and somewhen someone would kill me and that's it.. MottS
  8. I'm wondering if I have to download the dedicated server or its already on my cds. Anyone knows? I posted this question on the other board but.... thx MOttS
  9. ok.. I solved the problem.. I was the problem actually. When you burn an audio cd, select TRACK-AT-ONCE (TAO) and not DAO because its going to burn a single long wave file. Now I can burn with K3b, eroaster, xcdroast or whata.. everything works well :-D MottS
  10. I have retry to burn with xcdroast using the TAO uption (Track-at-once). Believe it or not but it burned 12 separate songs!!!!! I'm gonna now try with eroater unchecking the DAO (disk-at-once) option to see if it make separate songs at it should.. MottS
  11. I don't like xcdroast because there is way too much options... or they are not presented clearly. However, I did try xcdroast and got the exam same problem. Do I have to choose DAO (disk-at-once) or TAO (Track-at-once) for audio cds? I choosed dao (the default) and xcdroast burned a 57 minutes long wav file.. very usefull. :-( Any other idea? MottS
  12. I guys.. I wrote this topic on the club-init forum but didn't get any answer and this problem drive me crazy so if I can get ANY bit of help here.. I'll be to heaven I installed Eroaster (which uses cdrecord) and tryed to burn an audio cd. It converted the mp3 to wav no prob and then it started to burn the cd. When I pop the cd in my car, I realized that the god damn prog burned a single LONG wav file !.. no way to jump to the x song.. just 1 song! So, I tryed by hand to (re)burn my cd by typing cdrecord -v -eject -pad -audio dev=0,2,0 speed=32 *.wav and everything went well.. :-D However, I showed the step to burn a cd (convert mp3 to wav using xmms then type the cdrecord command into a shell) to my girlfriend and she started to complain about linux... grrrr they are all the same :-D So to still be able to get favours from her, I installed a _nice_ user interface... k3b (which uses cdrdao), which looks like nero. She love nero. I (re)burn my cd using that but now it's even weirer (ish.. don't know if we can say it). From my computer, all the song seems to be separate on the cd. However, in the car, I can read the first song and skip to other but they wont play.. the cdplayer just stall there and stop pleazz.. help.. I need a GUI that is wise!! MottS
  13. Well, I didn't try other driver than Cups. I got problems printing after installing mandrake 9 and I tryed the turboprint one but it turns out to be a firewall problem. Since then, I reinstalled mandrake and didn't install turboprint so .. to make a long story short .. I didn't try anything else than Cups. For speed now. I didn't print that much exept the 'test' page and a couples of text pages but I didn't notice any difference. Ie., the speed mostly the same. Sorry.. Can't help you more than that MottS
  14. well, I have an usb 740. Don't know.. maybe it's almost the same (?) MOttS
  15. All right.. ok thanks.. I found that: http://www.bright.net/~dlphilp/linuxsound/snded.html MottS
  16. I don't mind to convert it to wav first (probably using the disk_writer plugin of XMMS) because I'm gonna burn it anyway. However, I don't know ANY wav editor (and mp3 editor). MOttS
  17. I downloaded 2 long mp3 of like 60-70 minutes each. I'd like to split it into several little one (normal songs.. not the whole album!). Any idea, apps?? MottS
  18. Yeah.. I get the warning from textar and plf. But not the rpms from rpmfind.net. I also noticed that we get no warning if we install from command line (rpm -ivh *.rpm).. weird. MottS
  19. I get the warnings too.. but I just don't care and press 'continue'. I think there is a signature in every rpms. This way, rpmdrake can know if the rpm is from mandrake or somewhere else. If the rpm is from somewhere else it could maybe *hurt* your system or something like that. Rpmdrake just warns you of that.. but do like everyone does.. press 'continue' .. I'm not sure of that at all so someone could explain to me too .. MOttS
  20. JohnyV: adsl certainly beats my old 56k, but its limited bandwidth my works adsl gets about 0.5 mbyte down and maybe 100kbyte upload but theres a usage cap so i don't download iso's from work. I don't have any cap. I had a cap with Sympatico but I changed for AEI 2 months ago 'cause they don't look at how much stuff you download and unload. If you're in Canada, I STRONGLY urge you to change to AEI. There service is perfect, fast and without cap for 29.99$ CAN per months compared to 34.99$ CAN per months with sympatico. I'm in mdk 9 now.. everything is so fast! really good OS! MottS
  21. well, It's my error. I ususally go to http://www.linux-mandrake.com/fr/ and not to http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/. So from the french page, if you clic on 'usual mirror', it sends you so somewhere where you can't download 9.0. Only 8.2 and rcs. But this morning I went to http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ anc clic 'usual mirror' and now I see the mirror that has 9.0. I'm dowloading the 3 images right now. Hope tonight the download will be done.. my rate is : cd1 --> 76.7% completed and download at 14.54 KB/sec right now cd2 --> 11.6% completed and download at 24.62 KB/sec right now cd3 --> 7.3% completed and download at 6.65 KB/sec right now See you in mandrake 9 !! MottS
