  1. yes I meant that (I don't know why I said "import") my mistake :P
  2. well ooo-writer imports good to me...I've not had that problem yet and I'm using 3.0.1..... and those new features are very useful...I think I could replace some autocad options with those XD...
  3. now that I got 2009.1 (almost 1,5 weeks) I used LXDE and is very fast and cool, also tried that transparency is pretty cool!...but seems gnome is better XD...they've improved a lot...it's faster than 2.14...I think they finally removed those problems they had.... and guys I probably show my desktop later XD...yours will kick mine very fast...nice one guys
  4. Have you try it on another computer?

    looks good...
  6. [ problem solved....tried diferent ways but without results...so I just made a clean Install XD...thx anyway guys
  7. well I was told 1. update your actual version urpmi --auto-update 2.install the packages urpmi --auto-select 3. follow the instructions in your CD or DVD for installation...my thing was a little problem...but those are the steps and Ian do you have any idea why does mandriva ask for it? I think it is a connection problem...but what can I do?
  8. I've been trying to do the upgrade but seems imposible but I found some messages while loading mandriva (runlevel 5)it says: WARNING! Loop detected network -> resolvconf does that mean some network issue? cuz I had everything configured before restarting the pc after the incomplete upgrade... any ideas?
  9. I made my video works but the only problem is that I can't have smooth full screen maybe setting problems...but windowed works fine B) good job Greg nice tip welll I think this is solved right? :D
  10. those links were! I just have command line available so I just can type those links.... what I did was 1. check the link... 2. select my version (2009.1) 3. arch (i586) 4. refresh commands 5. write it on a copybook (rechecking for mistakes) 6. reboot 7. failsafe then type su password 8. write a command (plf first) output cannot locate 'http://plf...' 9. tried the other one and the same happened....I checked the connection using ifconfig but nothing appears so I figured it could be connection problems...if so tell me how to config it please cuz I haven't done that...(yes I know I still being a noob :) ) I have never needed that so I went lazy
  11. Greg you always have surprises like that...good job...I thought I will never make it work too...now I just need to fix my upgrade and then try your solution you should write a solver hehe
  12. From the first time I read that...I thought...it is an advice nothing else, the problem is if the packages were really updated or not? and for what you said you didn't log out/in after the update if they were important (something like X, kde, gnome,..) that is what I always do to make sure updates get applied (pardon my english  ) so could give an advice, let it get updated B) ...in the other hand you should check the list like everyone here is telling you... I think mandriva gives you that advice because you should be root and that means that you know what are you doing...even if you don't... my advice be more careful learn the lesson
  13. That used to happen to me when I was using 2008.0,2008.1, 2009.0....the way I solved was using VLC and installing the codecs, try also reconfiguring your video card drivers (I used to change some options on MCC) Maybe you have tried that right?
  14. didn't you see the program list it displayed before you could hit Y/N???there should have been the KDE4 packages.... I've used urpmi --auto-orphans every time I do an Update and never happened before (2009.0, 2008.1, 2008.0, (learning and begining)2007.1) if you lost your KDE4 packages just install them again urpmi task-kde4 this will install your KDE4 again, if you got X problem...well that would be a little more complicated
  15. didn't work  I don't know whether it is because I need to config ethernet (which I don't think so cuz I did while upgrading) or it is because repositories don't exist....I reckecked every part of the (plf, api )based on the link you gave cuz the output when I hit enter was "unable to find 'http://api.mandriva.com/...' and in the other hand "unable to find 'http://plf.zarb.org/...'". any ideas what can I do? I'm seriously thinking reinstall it but I don't want to lose configuration and install everything all over again give me a hand
  16. thx 4 ur reply, I've tried to find easy urpmi with 2009.1 reposits (I've tried the link on this page but it doesn't have 2009.1 just cooker) I'm gonna try those using fail safe (like I said I can only have root access using fail safe) hopefully this make it up thx speed
  17. well here I am reposting ;) My problem is that mandriva free DVD spring installation after upgrade says that 109 files couldn't be upgraded... does anyone knows where to begin cuz I just have terminal login as root (failsafe boot) but I don't have GUI, no user login.. give a tip, thx
  18. I did think that in the first time... " Posted May 1 2009, 02:43 PM Use 3.5 beta4 instead. Faster, using less resources, very stable, and way more customizable. It isn't in the repos yet, nor it will be until 2010.0, but it really kicks ass." my question is why there going to leave it out of 2009.0 and 2009.1 repositories and put it on the 2010.0? they should know that firefox y almost releasing the 3.1 version check out this links...they're in beta3 already here and here if somebody can explain it to me because sounds weird ~_~
  19. yep but you should have your root partition mounted and if not...mount it...and then try the command using the mount point of your root partition (just making everything more clear) XD
  20. did you try my option XD cuz it really works doesn't matter if you use live cd or rescue DVD (I've done that).
  21. well try to do my trick...hehe give her a workspace/virtualdesktop while your programs are in another so she won't close your applications XD I use that trick because my mom wants to check her e-mail to so I give her a clean and ready desktop to her...of course you should made them independent from each other so an application would run twice XD give it a try XD
  22. yep maybe you're right about that... good luck
  23. thx man.... greg how did you manage to make the panels invisibles while leaving the clock and the netapplet visible? looks cool Lex your desktop looks good.. nice work guys
