Yo~!!!! since I didnt find a solution and cheked others environments to check if this happens there I ve found that in xfce freezes again, but in windowmake,icewm and lxde not So I guessed can be some configuration file, then I used my last resort and erased all the hidden subfolders from my home folder, try again et voilá. Hello , in mandy 2011 pwpack 64 after using it 15 days , after autologin into gnome the cursos freezes and dont clik nothing, but using another desktops environments and even login -logout screen (thr one with the big cat) it seems fine I ve cheked grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown. [ 55.434] (EE) PreInit returned 11 for "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" and looked for the synaptic driver but it seems not to be installed even when i have the qsynaptis, gsynaptics and the x11-input-device-synaptics.. but even so Why this still work outside gnome Thanks :P :P :P

Im wondering which linux distro to use besides mandy on another system, but Im checking options 1)Slackware 2)OpenSuse 3)FreeBSD Slackware got out of my list because the lack of gnome support (I like it!!!) FreeBSD its a good choice for a server not a Desktop then OpenSuse but it does support GNOME? I ve seen last versions show KDe as main enviroment! and compared to mandy it has the same versability like easyurpmi? and it has the same amount of packages in their repos? Thanks

I run the binaries from ati with general setup i didnt generate a package for mandy. The thing its supposed to be running on 24 bits dep How can check or force to use that dep? I give a shot to the xorg drivers but it seems to slow down the Desktop, too much time to response, lag in video play, Thanks

yo there Im using a new laptop and just installed the ati propietary drivers , it has a mobility radeon hd 4200 , but after installing its shows some degradation in gradients of colors just like the attached , this is my lcd screen fault or its the driver. When using the other os it seems to display ok everything thanks PD I dunno if this is gonna show property the fault

Thanks Jhon, in fact the player isnt the issue, Ive tracked down and its a driver related , so I tryed the binaries from ati and generated an package for mandy after that something didnt went well (I dont know what=() but after installing several times the ati driver at leats works now every program plays well. Yo there gang! I have an issue relative to playing videos with mplayer It plays well while showing to the normal size of the vid but when trying a fullscreen it plays freezed or slowly. Happy New year there folks. I like to comment something here to see if someone can tell me what is going on. I use a wireless connection to my dsl modem based over wep (I know that must be changed =p!) the thing is this the conections its running fine, surfing, downloading, ssh...whatever..but suddenly its stops the stream of data and freezes for a minutes then mandy says there has been and attack / port scanning under 55383/udp port, the interesting thing is that it comes from the same ip that its my gateway. By the way I setup the modem to use the dns from the service but it shows the same ip as dns/gateway. What is this? thanks in advance!!!

Yo there frankzyz, happy new year to you too!!! =p first: I believe in the choice of everyone to make the system as you like but, I dont see gain of your partitions scheme: ----------------------------------------------------------- /dev/sdb1 29G 26G 1.7G 94% / /dev/sdb5 15G 12G 2.9G 81% /home /dev/sdb7 30G 28G 682M 98% /usr /dev/sdc1 1.9G 1.9G 59M 97% /media/GEIL ----------------------------------------------------------- well you have your reasons =) but for now I strongly suggest you a more classic approach , I mean merge the /, /home and /usr under a big partition, perhaps this will save you future bugs... well, I remember sometimes I have an issue like the yours,and cleaning the tmp doesnt work for me =p! So then what, try not using the root user, and Im pretty sure this is a graphic issue, what are doing the error,? dont know but please try running as level 3 [the safe mode] then run drakconf and select your correct card , check back your documentation to verify if the driver its correct, also try configuring urpmi for any soft you need. I think there are user/root scripts that are scrapped but thats another thing. Ah!!!! if you are not mad at me send me the output of dmesg after you are trying to start your x environment, bro.. Good luck!!!! and sorry again!!! :P PD the conf files seems to be fine to me so I cant tell more of the files...

as far as I know , perhaps some conf file are bad done [i mean isnt correct] , try empting your /tmp, /home/user/tmp and /root/tmp. if not go to runlevel 1 and drakconf choose the grapic cards and your right mouse/keyboard. If you have time, and have supported your files on another disk, I prefer to check the filesize of the dirs you want, make a new installation and asign a partition the enough space to handle it, and just by security try to put the files in another place not in /root, maybe create a custom mount point [be the disk you have actually and then you copy it to your new disk] or simple create a user and put there /home/user_for_files/files. aside the good comentaries wrtien here, perhaps you need to configure urpmi before doing anything [there are several ways of install software here] the most easy its easy urpmi [just google it], then configure the package installer using the instructions on the site, after that simpy as root write urpmi + package_you_want. and its a good idea to read the wiki, just in case... btw: the firefox tar.gz can be tricky to a new user, because its code already compilated , if you want this badly simply via the term go to your home dir then tar xvf /path/to/firefox.tar.gz cd firefox and ./firefox it should run that if not post the messages outputed by the system. If there is yet in the menu try making a drag and drop form the icon to your desktop [if does not exist in the lde menu, logon in gnome and look over there], if this does not work make a right click in your desktop > New Link/Shortcut and in the properties look for application field and enter firefox.
