  1. Xandros is licensing key communications protocols from new best friend Microsoft on email and collaboration - areas where they compete. The open source specialist will implement Microsoft's ActiveSync and Outlook-Exchange Transport protocols, enabling over-the-air synchronization of email and calendaring between mobile devices and servers, and improved communication between email on Windows clients and Xandros's Scalix server. 2. The very unofficial Google Operating System blog reports that the Mountain View outfit is offering a completely free version of Sun Microsystem's StarOffice 8, the office productivity suite that Sun sells for $70 a pop. Google has confirmed that its version "includes all the major functionality of the paid consumer version." More at The Register.
  3. Neither. There's a Mandriva package here. If you have any problems, ZoneMinder LiveCD forum looks like the place to get help. :)
  4. The non-profit Linux Foundation has unveiled the Linux Weather Forecast, a Web site aimed at giving people a better sense of the status of specific Linux kernel projects. The Foundation created the forecast site by teaming up with Jonathan Corbet, a Linux kernel developer and writer, who's also executive editor of the LWN.net Linux and free software news site. The forecast is already live and tracks work in the Linux developer community likely to be included in the operating system's kernel and in major distributions of the open-source software, or both. 5. It's best if we keep the discussion in one place, so I've merged the two threads, and removed the [solved]. ;)
  6. I've split this correspondence from AI's original post as it was too big for the portal page. :) http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.as...5&page=3#73 http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.as...5&page=4#93 http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.as...&page=4#111
  7. Novell's recently unpopular chief executive was doing more than reading from a crudely scripted speech when he told LinuxWorld to get with the program and deal with Microsoft and mixed source. Open source server and desktop companies in and around Silicon Valley are now being captained by executives who are either hardened by years of pushing the Linux cause for slow returns or who see the advantages of interoperating with Windows and tapping into the company's massive customer base in mixed environments. 8. You should be able to create a shortcut without using the script. Just put the mirdir command in the command line. I think there's an option to open a terminal when you create the shortcut - not in Linux at the moment...
  9. We'll hold you to that! ;)
  10. It seems as though you just need to change the permissions on the folder. If you're using KDE, paste and run this in a terminal: kdesu 'kfmclient openProfile filemanagement' Enter the root password when prompted. Navigate to the games folder and right click on it. Select Properties then the Permissions tab. You can change the User and Group ownership if you're the only user; or change the permissions for Others to modify content, as necessary. Also check the 'Apply changes to all sub-folders and their contents' option.
  11. Try su [root password] fdisk -l
  12. dexter11 - I've deleted the first post. You can delete the whole text and mark it 'deleted' if it isn't obvious which post should be deleted. A mod or admin will act when they see it. :)
  13. Welcome to the board. :) If pmpatrick is correct, this entry in the 2007 Errata may be relevant... By the way, your topic refers to 'spring power pack' and your post refers to 'power pack 2007.0'.
  14. The world's largest Linux vendor Red Hat will release a pre-installed desktop version of Linux globally in September. The new Red Hat desktop targeting primarily small business users will be available on cheap whitebox Intel PCs and, according to Red Hat, will not try to be a Windows clone. More at iTWire.
  15. You can edit your original post to add [solved] to the title - or we do it for you. :)
  16. www.kde-look.org. I think it's picked up automatically if you're using KDE. Configure Desktop - Background - Get New Wallpapers - KDE-Look.org Wallpapers. It's listed under the Highest-Rated. :)
  17. Last month's efforts were a bit sparse, so let's try a bit harder this month... :)
