  1. What I would do for dual boot on a single HD is to partition the HD into two: Partition 1: NTFS Partition 2: FAT32 (put Mandrake Linux here), it will leave at least 512MB of space which you can use for files to be shared with both WinXP/ML.

    Mig Alley port

You may also want to talk to the BDG which is fixing MiG Alley and Battle of Britain. You can reach them here: http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/boards/cgi-bi...in/Ultimate.cgi
  3. I use OpenOffice, but sitll can't let go of MSOffice 2000. Main problem is I can't seem to pritn in 8.5" x 13" paper in OpenOffice.

    Mig Alley port

"ral, think about the two OSes... Which one is less stable?" Point taken....why blame the game when you put it on an OS that has to be rebooted after a hour or so of hard use :)

    Mig Alley port

I am a flight sim fanatic and MiG Alley is one of the best. The Artificial AI in MiG Alley is second to none. Been playing with this thing for three years and it still holds my interest. My only concern is that is the campaign buggy on Windows...so I am not sure how stable it will be on Linux.

    Xine questions

Thanks SoulSe... thats what I was looking for. Sorry, should have probed a little more before posting

    Xine questions

When I put Xine on fullscreen mode, there seems to be no way to access the control panel. All I can do is close it with Alt-F4. Any tips?
  8. Me, I would like to see some standardization in Linux distro's (all the RPM based distro's should use a common RPM..etc), however, in a way standardization is contrary to what Linux is all about.

  10. Do Apt-get and Synaptic work with ML?
  11. Well, yes, I know it is not a kick ass card, but the neext better card costs twice as much. Think it will be good enough for me too.

    NWN client delayed

:( http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/linuxclient.html Okay... at least they are still working on it.
  13. Think I will wait a bit. I appreicate Nvidia strong commitment...but am happy with the 3123's.
  14. :D ...is there anything I need to know before I do that. :D I have the Nvidia 3123 drivers installed already. I am kind of worried that X won't load or something after the upgrade. Should I back up my files first? Not much I can do with a GUI .
  15. Me, I just run Tux racer. If it flies, means everything is okay. If the mouse crawls accross the screen... well than that means that I don't have graphics acceleration working well :D "My long shot is that KDE is not configured/capable for HW acceleration." Doubt it, RTCW, Quake II and Tuxracer run fine on my ML9 running a KDE desktop.
  16. If you cant beat em...join em (would love to see how Bill explains thise one). Besides "Open Source is evil" (BG) ...makes sense for MS to sell a linux distro than.

    Serious Sam for Linux

Okay, thanks for the heads up. I'll hold of getting it until they have a port that does not expire.
  18. If its just for using, well I like RedHat 8. It is what I used to do my work, email and surf the net. Pretty much a default install with a few changes (changed some shortcuts and use single click...added RTCW and Quake II, otherwise a default install). Works well out of the box. All hardware was properly detectied. Mandrake 9, well its what I customize and experiment with as well as surf. I am writing this on ML9. Well, if I had to just choose one, at this point I would go with RedHat 8 (here come the bombs). [Win98 is what I used to play games (Battle of Britain, IL-2, Strike Fighers, Operation Flashpoint and a bunch of other stuff I dont think will ever be ported to Linux)...]
  19. I think I missed something here. Anyway. I am using Mandrake 9 on one PC and a dual Boot RedHat 8/Windows 98SE on the other.
  20. Sorry, about the Supermount thing. But I have used ML on 3 different PC's and never had any problems with it. Mounting is one area where I noticed Windows users get thrown of easily.
  21. I am surprised about how ML only features like Supermount, don't receive much attention.
  22. When reviewers compare different versions of Linux ML, usually comes out on top...but most of the time, reviewers only look at 2 - RedHat and SuSE. http://www.cnet.com/software/0-429669-8-20...9-1.html?tag=sd
