  1. Hey all, my order for the 'Linksys WET-11 Wireless-B ethernet bridge' came in to day, but I'm having trouble setting it up. Part of the problem might have to do with me not knowing enough about networks (well, I do now a little). The idea was to use this bridge ("wireless enabler") to ENABLE my Linux box to connect to the network (e.g. making the Linksys bridge connect with an Intel Pro/Wireless 2011b access point downstairs). I have got to use the 'other' OS (windoze) to use the setup utility, but when I run it, I get the error message saying 'no ethernet bridge was found'. The bridge is plugged into my PC and the leds burning are 'Power' and 'Lan'. No Wlan though, and I guess it is that which should happen. Button is in the "X"-position (connecting the bridge to a PC's network adapter). Darkelve
  2. Html-Kit !! Oh yeah, I forgot, nobody uses windoze here... :woops: Edit: nevermind, I guess it's got much more features than Urza wants...
  3. I smell a redirect to Mandrakeusers.org... :o
  4. The real strength of Linux/FLOSS is that it can play nicely together in the COMMERCIAL environment, as well as in the 'FREE' and more altruistic environments. The GPL and similar licences ensure that both fronts can advance. It's a bit like saying 'This car can go 150 miles/hour and driving this fast is dangerous, so this car is dangerous'. Well, newsflash, you don't HAVE to drive at max speed! Imho one of the most important 'accellerators' in Linux/Floss - especially in the long run- is the interaction between different fields. Something which is not really possible with any other Operating System.
  5. *cough* dual boot *cough* but only for games though.
  6. I'm getting addicted to Morrowind, but unfortunately there is no way to let it run under Linux. It's not exactly a 'light' FPS, but it *is* RPG HEAVEN!!! The first RPG ever to keep really draw me into the game world (well, that and Laxius Power :P ).
  7. Nooooooo! Have to... make it to... that game webpage... must... defeat... mdemers883
  8. hell I know... I have to get back on that thread someday ;) I have a few more experiences to elaborate upon.
  9. Think you can beat me huh? 595.5 on the old game; new game: see screenshot. It's all about the slide indeed! Muhahahahaaa!
  10. Isn't that like saying exactly the same thing twice? :o (ducks for cover)
  11. psssttt... look for the thread 'LindowsOS'. There was some good discussion on the subject. And as you will notice, not everyone would be happy to see 'Lindows' come to the masses ;)
  12. Ermm... good customer service is almost always essential for survival, especially in an Open Source environment.
  13. So THAT's what the guy looks like who is always posting on (OS) forums/news sites.
  14. If this is the game with the Yeti & baseball: I got 593 points!
  15. " During an inteview with NewsForge at LinuxWorld, MandrakeSoft CEO Francois Bancilhon said the company is releasing financial results today that show a profit. "Now, he said, "we can move to the next step, which is to grow it." He expects MandrakeSoft to emerge from the French equivalent of Chapter 11 as early as March, but notes that under French law, "this can take some time," so he cannot be certain of exactly when MandrakeSoft will have the cloud of bankruptcy lifted from its corporate head ..." http://www.newsforge.com/business/04/01/22...2&tid=82&tid=94
  16. Has done. Does. Will do B) Edit: Oh, you mean OUR website. Sorry, I was a little confused 'cause it does not exist yet and I was thinking in the present. So I assumend you were talking about MandrakeUsers... Of course our website will rule! B) Darkelve P.S. it's just I never saw them, and recently I read there was a new one added. Didn't mean to 'stea'l your thread...
  17. The new IBM commercial(s) for Linux are quite fun: http://www-306.ibm.com/e-business/doc/cont...mpaign=6N2A5W53 Anyone knows where they are airing? Is it only on the net, only in the US, is it on commercial stations or not, ... ? The commercials are nice, but it should be done on a bigger scale (and by diff. companies). I mean, as for my company, I am positive e.g. Novell's Linux solutions would be far more reliably & less expensive than our current 'Upgrade' from NT 4.0 to Windows XP. Unfortunately I've got nothing to say when it comes to IT infrastructure. But Novell, and certainly Linux, are relatively unknown to a lot of people. And if people don't know who you are & what you do, obviously they cannot do business with you...
  18. I've never anticipated a Friday this much... Apperently this Friday (Fri 23 Jan 04) will bring some clarity on the lawsuit at last. So I suggest you all tune in to www.groklaw.net on Friday and Saturday. Darkelve

  20. And don't forget the long-lost treasures such as: http://www.the-underdogs.org/genre.php?id=...FPS&sort=rating It's not because they are old that they are not good (e.g. try Soldat). And besides, a lot of games aren't even that old (e.g. Betrayal at Krondor)
  21. sorry for stating the obvious, but: did you set your proxy settings (if you have any) in OpenOffice? I believe there's: * Register Now (take me to the... [pilot :D ] ) * Already Registered (don't bother me again) * Register Later (bother me again) * Never Register (don't bother me again) Darkelve

  23. A few months ago there was a thread on people making AthlonXP rpm's available. Problem is, I cannot seem to find them anywhere in downloads, and the links don't work. Where can I find them?
