Guest scarr34
I recently installed Mandriva 2006 on a new Compaq computer with AMD Sempron processor and Windows XP. When I boot on the Linux partition the clock runs about 2X fast. If I re-start the computer and boot on the Win XP partition, the Windows clock also runs fast. Any ideas? Linux kernel is 2.6.12 Thanks in advance, scarr34 Cured problem by using Mandriva Control Center - Boot Setup to select "Force No APIC" and "Force No Local APIC". Thank you speedball2. devries
Sounds like a problem with your mobo. Look and play around with your BIOS settings. Or use an npt server (rightclick on the clock, adjust time and date and select an npt server).
ianw1974
I've heard of this before, check for a BIOS update to your machine.
speedball2
Hello I had a similar problem. Fixed it through the Mandriva Control Centre -> Boot -> Setup how system boots and click on Force No APIC and Force No Local APIC. May solve your problem :D Found the solution on another site, not too sure what APIC is or does Great site by the way, helped me many times over the past 2 years of using Mandrake/Mandriva. (still prefer Mandrake) :D I knew I'd register eventually :D cya
scarecrow
Since you are dualbooting, your clock should be set to localtime and not UTC. Also, make sure a module named "rtc" is loaded.
