ab2ms
Anyone have any experience with any Cad software for linux? I just want something I can do simple stuff and learn basic CAD to help at work. All they have is windows programs and I'm not looking to spend a fortune. I tried one (forget the name) that was bundled with 8.0 or earlier and unless you paid a fortune for a code you could produce spectacular drawings, but not save them. I'm just looking for any suggestions.
DOlson
QCAD comes with Mandrake. I didn't use it much, but it seems okay. LinuxCAD I think it's called, is a commercial CAD package, and it's supposedly compatible with AutoCAD.
MoonChild
There is this totally cool CAD solution on the Mandrake boxed CDs (you know, the one with the commercial versions on it...). I don't remember the package, but I know my dad that's an architect thinks it's as good as Autocad, more configurable, and easier to find patches, updates, addons for it. The price to buy it is $399.00 for the standard edition, which means buying the MDK9 CDs as soon as they come out, should save you aroudn $300 and give you a billion more packages to play with. dalee
Hi, For a free CAD program I use QCad with Mandrake. I'm a Machinist, and it's a good prog for doing quick and not too terribly complicated part drawings. dalee
