Guest Boatman
Hi all, Noobie just installed 9.1 Only trouble is, none of my USB devices (Logiteh Cordless Mouseman, Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem and Microsoft Force Feedback 2) seem to be recognised. I think it may be a USB problem rather than device specific, as I have tried running the network wizard and it doesn't see the modem. I have also tried different mouse set ups, but to no avail. I don't have any other USB devices connected. Two questions - how do I check that it is a USB problem, and how do I fix it? My USB controller is a SiS 7001. I am not too bothered about the joystick, but I would like the mouse and modem to work! Any help greatly appriciated.
Steve Scrimpshire
As you can see here, there are several several posts regarding the Alcatel: http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php...+speedtouch+usb http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php...+speedtouch+usb http://www.angelfire.com/linux/speedtouch/ http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php...ghlight=alcatel There's actually, several more, if you click 'Search' up there and type in Alcatel Speedtouch. As for the others, someone else'll have to help.
scoopy
Be sure to install those updates after a fresh 9.1 install. The easy gui way --> Configuration --> Packaging --> Mandrake Update. I believe a USB fix was included with the updates, among many important drak tools fixes.
Guest Boatman
How can I do an update via Windows? I don't have internet access via Mandrake.
scoopy
You can go to any mirror, such as: ftp://mirrors.secsup.org/pub/linux/mandra...pdates/9.1/RPMS and download what you need. harddrake-9.1-31.3mdk.i586.rpm and harddrake-ui-9.1-31.3mdk.i586.rpm are the ones dealing with USB issues I believe. You will also want to grab anything with "drak" in its name. The others you can get later when you get access. Check out those other posts to get modem working.
