bromar
Can't get audio CDs to play with CD Player, XMMS or Grip. (only ones I've tried) System recognizes data CDs (MDK install CDs for example) and will display the contents but can not see contents of audio CDs and CD Player just reports a 'CD Error'. Any help greatly appreciated.
Gowator
It depends which desktop your using (probably) In KDE try kcd ... if this works then you can set it up for xmms etc.

Guest vs77
You could XMMS. All you have to do is add the entire directory and then play it. For some reason ( I dont know what I'm doing wrong), I can access audio CD's and most times I land up getting errors. But adding the entire directory to the playlist works
pmpatrick
Try opening a console and running: $ grip Grip will open and try playing a cd. See what error messages show up in the console. You usually get much better error messages when you run out of a console.
Ixthusdan
Are you using supergoof? I mean, supermount?
aperahama
When I installed 9.1 I had to create my own symbolic link from /dev/cdrom to point to /dev/hdd. Up until then I had the same problem with being able to read data disc but not music. I did have supermount enabled at the time and the link sorted out my problems. If you are uncertain how to add a link post a reply. I hope this is of some help.
VeeDubb
another much simpler possability is that your CD rom is not correctly installed. It may read Data just fine, but you need to have an audio cable running from your CDrom to your sound card or motherboard to play CD's with most linux apps. There may be some that just play through the ide bus, but none that I've used work that way.
