  1. Hi, I'm considering adding a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) to my linux setup. I'd like to have my linux system shutdown automatically if the power has been out for a specified length of time. What UPS are you using and does it support auto-shutdown? Thanks Mark
  2. What changes (if any) are needed to /etc/httpd/conf/httpd2.conf for PHP4? Is there any other files that need to be changed? The /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file contains references to PHP but not the httpd2.conf file and when port 80 is hit by a web browser a message is displayed stating that it doesn't understand a application/x-httpd-php file. packages installed are: apache2-2.0.47-1.9.91mdk apache2-common-2.0.47-1.9.91mdk apache2-mod_php-2.0.44_4.3.1-2mdk apache2-modules-2.0.47-1.9.91mdk Thanks Mark
  3. I've installed the subversion 0.37 rpm and all it's dependencies but don't have 'svnadmin'. Are there other rpms to install?

    phpMyAdmin

Trying to get phpMyAdmin up and running. MySQL is running. When I hit http://localhost/admin/phpMyAdmin/index.php the message 'cannot load MySQL extension' is displayed. The phpMyAdmin documentation says it's likely that mysql.so needs to be installed but the file is there under /usr/lib/php/extensions/. Are there any logs that might point to the source of the problem? Any other options to be tried? Thanks for the help.
  6. Well there must be ownership and/or permission issues since logged in as root audio CDs will play but not if logged in as an ordinary user. This being the case I'd like to get the ownership and permissions corrected but I don't know what they should be. Working with SCO Unix years ago I recall a utility that compared the current system files ownership and permissions against a database containing the proper values. Does such as utility exist in MDK 9.1 or am I relegating to guessing what the proper ownership and permissions should be?
  7. Is there a utility in 9.1 that will check system files and devices for proper ownership and permissions? I'm asking because there are a number files in /dev that are owned by my user account rather than root. I suspect these files are owned incorrectly and would like to verify the entire system.
  8. Can't get audio CDs to play with CD Player, XMMS or Grip. (only ones I've tried) System recognizes data CDs (MDK install CDs for example) and will display the contents but can not see contents of audio CDs and CD Player just reports a 'CD Error'. Any help greatly appreciated.
  9. I selected and deselected alot of the Package Groups and that seemed to get an install with dhcp. Had to rpm alot of stuff manually but it's working now. Thanks for the suggestions.
  10. I purchased these CDs already burned. I did find the dhcp-client RPM on the first CD and installed it and it's dependencies. The OS will boot but I don't get a graphic login even on F7.
  11. I'm installing 9.1 and get the message 'dhcp-client rpm not found.' after the Add User stage of the installation. I click OK and it proceeds to the Install Bootloader stage and once I click Next the 'dhcp-client rpm not found.' message redisplays and after clicking OK it's back to the Install Bootloader screen. After this clicking Next is an endless loop between the 'dhcp-client' message and the Install Bootloader screen. I selected the 'Office Workstation' and 'Internet station' package groups by the way. Can anyone help, please.
