I'd like to see those round corners and transparent menus. To update fluxbox can I just untar the newer one, configure it and make it? Or do I need to unistall the old one first?

You might want verification from someone who has done this with flux, but I don't see any reason you can't: example;

if your current install is in /usr

either check the Makefile to make sure the install is to /usr/local, or

./configure --prefix=/usr/local

So, to start the new

/usr/local/bin/fluxbox

instead of

/usr/bin/fluxbox

In other words, everything will go to

/usr/local/bin and share etc....

I've done the opposite....from /usr/local to /usr without probs with waimea.

Well, since I installed the new version I have not had one single problem with it restarting X. I never had a problem with the older version either, though.

One thing I don't really like in the new version (maybe it was in the older one too, I just never noticed) is that my icons on fbdesk are always on top, no matter what. Not a huge deal, and like I said: could be something to do with fbdesk, not flux. Just doesn't look right.
