Chris H
Fairly new install of 2008 upgraded to 2009 with kde 3.5 and gnome. Quanta Plus used to be part of the kwebdev package rpm. Now the package manager show that it has gone and the Quanta rpm is a dummy one awaiting kde4 installation. So short of installing kde4 is there any sign of quanta plus? As an aside is Screem still in development or has it been abandoned? Ta
SilverSurfer60
Well Chris I have just installed kdewebdev yesterday as I use quanta myself, although I installed both quanta and kdewebdev. I am using 2009.0 and kde 3.5 Edited November 5, 2008 by SilverSurfer60
Chris H
Hmm, perhaps I'll update me sources later and see what pops up.
Chris H
Nope, still no sign of it. Perhaps I'll just upgrade to 4.1 and use the KDE4 package.
ianw1974
KDE 4 might be unstable for you, but you can try it I suppose :)
Greg2
Nope, still no sign of it. I think that you need to update your sources again. [greg@halfway ~]$ urpmq --sources quanta http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca/pub/distro/Mandrakelinux/official/2009.0/i586/media/main/ release/quanta-4.1.2-1mdv2009.0.i586.rpm [greg@halfway ~]$ urpmq --sources kdewebdev http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca/pub/distro/Mandrakelinux/official/2009.0/i586/media/contrib/ release/kdewebdev-3.5.9-6mdv2009.0.i586.rpm
Chris H
KDE 4 might be unstable for you, but you can try it I suppose :) I did have it before this reinstallation, it just ran like a sleeping dog. :P
Chris H
I think that you need to update your sources again. Thanks Greg, this is what I get: [chris@localhost ~]$ urpmq --sources quanta http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/carroll.cac.psu.edu/MandrivaLinux/official/2009.0/i586/media/ main/release/quanta-4.1.2-1mdv2009.0.i586.rpm [chris@localhost ~]$ urpmq --sources kwebdev No package named kwebdev When I had kde4.1 running before then quanta was no longer in kwebdev but in it's own package. So quanta 4.12 is installed but a shufty at the file details reveals there's nowt in the package quanta - Quanta A HTML editor for the K Desktop Environment. Version: 4.1.2-1mdv2009.0 Currently installed version: 4.1.2-1mdv2009.0 Group: Graphical desktop/KDE Architecture: i586 Size: 0 KB Medium: None (installed) URL: Which is what you'd expect if running kde 3.5. Never had trouble installing quanta before so am a bit confused. Maybe carroll.edu is the issue?
SilverSurfer60
Maybe because the package is called kdewebdev ;)

SilverSurfer60
It happens to us all. If anyone says different well I beg to differ. Glad it's sorted for you.
Chris H
Ta for the polite help :D This is the second time that quanta disappearing into that metapackage or whatever it's called has stumped me.
Chris H
£$%$%&%^&^£%£$^$% It's gone, me quanta is gone I tell ya. Chris H
Sort of sorted. The menu launcher was pointing to /opt/kde/usr/bin The file was in opt/kde3/usr/bin  Spooky!
medo3891
BTW the kde4 package of quanta is an empty (dummy) package. I think quanta hasn't been ported to kde4 yet, I might be wrong of course about the porting part but I am certain the quanta package in kde4 is an empty package : )
