phunni
I recently put linux on a new desktop I was given (long term loan anyway). I have 550Mhz P3, 256MB RAM and an ATI Rage 128. I cannot however, play RTCW mulitplayer or enemy territory. The former simply crashes X and the latter is too juddery to be playable. I realise that the enemy territory thing could be a network problem. My system should be more than up to playing these games shouldn't it? Why is this not working? RTCW single player is fine

zero0w
My sister has been playing ET on Celeron 566 + GF2MX, and it worked fine. Perhaps try upgrading the display card to a GF2 class product very cheap should be nowadays (I see under US$15 in 2nd hand market for a GF2MX). phunni
My main desktop resolution is 1024x768 but I think all these games are playing in 800x600 I can't really replace the hardware too much as the machine is only on a kind of permanent loan. I did do that before a bit and I just end up with loads of cheap hardware that I can't really use in the long run
