Guest Gooze_One
I am currently having a problem with my Netgear WG111v2 wifi receiver on my Mandriva Linux install. For a while it was picking up my wifi signal coming from my router, then last night, it just stopped. It still reads the receiver, but no longer my wifi network. Can you guys help? ianw1974
Can you check/test it under Windows and does the wireless network still work? Are you saying that your Mandriva install can only see the WIFI Receiver but not communicate with the wireless network itself? If so, then it would hint at a problem with authentication for WEP/WPA or whatever you are using for gaining access to the wireless receiver to be able to access the internet. What changes have been made recently? Any firmware updates? Blocking of MAC addresses on the Wireless Receiver?
mindwave
I've got 2 of them (I bought them as a matched set), and if you check the netgear forums you will find that its an issue with the device. I'm just glad i got them on close out. One of the few times i did my research AFTER a purchase. but they were worth the $5 i paid, when they work. the one common factor seems to be that they overheat, well that plus they do NOT well tolerate USB extension cables. I have a 6" cable I use w/ a 60GB HD, works fine, with the 111's it barely detects the device. Sometimes they can cool down and work fine for weeks, sometimes it will be weeks before they work again. hopefully yours are more consistent that mine. ianw1974
I have a WG-602v3 and it works a treat. It's just a wireless access point. Try to keep them in a well ventilated area and not a confined space.
