Steve Scrimpshire
Turns out my problems with wvdial were that I had my username wrong. # cat /etc/ppp/options lock noauth noipdefault usepeerdns defaultroute # cat /etc/ppp/peers/wvdial lock noauth noipdefault name wvdial usepeerdns defaultroute # ps ax | grep ppp 15654 ttyS0 S 0:00 /usr/sbin/pppd 115200 modem crtscts defaultroute usehostname -detach call wvdial user myusername@myisp.net noipdefault usepeerdns idle 0 logfd 6 remotename * Don't know where these come from: crtscts usehostname idle 0 logfd
ramfree17
i didnt know about /etc/ppp/peers/wvdial. i dont have the default route in there so that might be the key. im using kpp right now and here is what i got with ps # ps -ax | grep ppp Bad syntax, perhaps a bogus '-'? 1839 ? S 0:01 kppp 1840 ? S 0:00 kppp 1858 ttyS0 S 0:00 pppd 57600 -detach crtscts defaultroute usepeerdns user ramfree17 ill disconnect and try again after i have finished checking the other threads. :#: ciao! [edit] nope, it doesnt work either
Steve Scrimpshire
I just discovered that I had the same problem you had when I added usepeerdns. All I had to do to solve it was cp /etc/resolv.conf to /etc/ppp/peers/ tada
