maarten_nl
I have a Intel HDA soundcard with optical out hooked to my surroundset. card is installed with the latest ALSA driver and works ok. Sound of Mandriva starting and closing, music thru Amarok.. All works just fine but I can seem to get sound working in firefox or konqueror. (no sound with playing youtube movies for example) I tried starting with aoss firefox fiddle with the suspend to idle and duplex settings of KDE. All sliders of kmix are at max and green on/off buttons set to on. Any ideas what I can do to get sound from my browser?
dexter11
Install codecs?
scarecrow
Install codecs? It's not a matter of codecs with youtube... the site is using flash for the videos. Get sure that you have the latest flashplugin version installed (mine is 9.0.115.0), and also that the "snd-pcm-oss" module is loaded. lsmod | grep oss What gives? maarten_nl
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afbeelding:Nl...een-Article.ogg Playing this works... so it must be the flashplayer(config) that does't work.
scarecrow
Run Firefox from a terminal, or open the debug console. Then, visit youtube or any other site with Flash content. Noticing any special error messages either in the terminal, or the debug console?

maarten_nl
Any idea where to go to possibly find an answer then?
SilverSurfer60
Hello there, one thing you can look for and that is you have libalsa-oss0 on your sytem. As root run locate libalsa-oss0 and take note of where it is. If it is not found install it. That's as far as I can go.
SilverSurfer60
Please ignore my previous post. I've just checked my system and the only place I could find libalsa-oss0 was in /usr/share/doc/ so that file is not required. Check your /etc/modprobe.preload and make sure that libalsa-oss0 is not listed. If it is then either delete it or comment it out. That should get rid of the errors. I don't expect that to correct your problem but at least you will get rid of a few lines.
