Help! Warped display

Yesterday i tried changing the driver to the ATI Mach64 3d Rage Pro. It didn't help.

 

I'm surviving with my monitor,I set my panel at the top so it only really affects the panel, it warps a bit at the ends.

At the moment my main focus is being able to write and Compile my windows programs under linux. Everything esle is absolutely great.

This is completely related to the modelines, I can almost guarantee it.

 

My suggestion is to look up your monitor on the web for the horizontal and vertical refresh rates, look for the rates supported by your card, and plug the appropriate values into your XF86Config and XF86Config-4 files.

 

What's happening is that the phase in the modelines isn't set right. I have had this happen to me before. Currently, when my flat panel display boots up, I don't get the text centered correctly until Linux begins to boot. When I first got the monitor, I had a shifting of the entire display.

 

Just because it was working in a previous version of Linux, doesn't mean it will work the same this time.

 

Try backing up your XF86Config and XF86Config-4 files, then switching to runlevel 3 (with the >init 3 command as root), and then running XFdrake. first select cancel and then change everything to your current setup. Then, re-edit your XF86Config and XF86Config-4 files manually to include the specifics for OpenGL, etc.

Doesn't xvidtune have an Auto and Fetch option? Do they work for giving the correct modline?

Thanks i have it fixed

It has very very small outward curve on each side that only affects my panel that i am fine with, the curve is barely visible.

I used xvidtune to fix it, another friend of mine also reccomended it.

I would further recommend manually tweaking your XF86Config and XF86Config-4 files yourself to make sure you adjust the frequecy lines to the things you highlighted in your previous post. That you have a curve at all suggests that the modelines or frequency settings are just a hair off. I would set them in your files to an integer or two inside your monitor's specs.
