bamboccio
Hi, I updated my 2007 Spring installation with the latest updates and Xorg was one. Now after the install Xorg is not staring complaining that there are no screens :( Any idea of where I should start from? Or maybe better to upgrade to 2008 directly? Thanks! ianw1974
I would try this from a console prompt: su Xorg -configure that might help. Otherwise, instead of that, try: XFdrake from the command prompt and follow the menus to reconfigure Xorg.
scarecrow
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log Also cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf plus info about your videocard, keyboard and mouse should help.
adamw
I suspect you have an NVIDIA or ATI card and you also updated the kernel? in that case, install the matching kernel-source-stripped package for your kernel.
bamboccio
Thanks to everyone! I actually yes have an NVIDIA card and when I did the update I was asked to select a kernel source and I chose one but I did not update the kernel. uname --kernel-release 2.6.17-13mdvlegacy Anyway I did XFdrake and now everything works! So I chill out a bit and then upgrade to 2008 :) Many thanks!!!
