Valikhan
How to create shortcut on desktop leading to windows partition in /media folder? When I do right-click it offers me only application and file options, but windows partition is folder actually.
dexter11
KDE or Gnome? In KDE right click and choose the "Link pointing to an application". Or something like that, I'm not using English localization.
qandd
That would be, Right Click on Desktop - Create New - Link To Device Edited October 7, 2007 by qandd
Valikhan
I did that several times. My point is I cannot create shortcut to it because windows partition is not an application. It looks like a folder in /media. Any suggestions?
dude67
I works for me... NB! Link to a device, not an application. Like this: and
Valikhan
I'll check it tomorrow as I am not able to do it just now. What I remember for now, there are just create new folder and create shortcut (or link) to an application or file using something like command. I use GNOME, not KDE. yossarian
I use GNOME, not KDE. I'm not sure it's the most natural straight-forward way to do it, but still, as a bypass - it works. On the desktop, right-click the mouse and choose "create launcher". Under Type choose "Application" and give it a name (e.g. "Win partition"). In the Command line write "nautilus LibraryPath", where LibraryPath stands for the path to your windows partition (e.g. "/media/win", or wherever you mounted the windows partition to). Under Comment write whatever you want. Choose an icon, click OK, et voila! Bonne chance!
