Guest valdezr1
I have installed Mandriva 2007 Free edition in my laptop toshiba 1000 It was ok at the beggining but something happened and now no music cd plays, it says it is not recognized as a music cd. Beside, when I want to upgrade installing a game, for example, from the installation cd´s it says that the cd has bad sectors even though I can browse the cd with no problem, just It cannot install the .rpm packages from the cd. What can I do? Thanks in advance
{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
Use the Easy-Urpmi link (top right), follow the instructions. When completed you will be able to download and install all you need from the net. Edited July 27, 2007 by {BBI}Nexus{BBI}
scarecrow
First thing - open a root console and hdparm -d /dev/hdc What does it say? Then you could try cleaning the CD-ROM lens. Do NOT use a cleaning CD for it- just use a can of compressed air (available at all electronics' stores) and spray the lens for 10 sec from a 30 cm distance.
