scarecrow Posted August 5, 2007 Report Share Posted August 5, 2007 Is it the only device on that IDE ribbon/channel? If it is, then check the back jumper of the drive. It should be set as "master" (not cable select, not slave), and it should be connected to the far end of the IDE ribbon. You should also try replacing the regular 80-wire ultra ATA ribbon with an oldfashioned, 40-wire one. If the drive is on the first onboard IDE channel it should be grabbed as /dev/hda, if on the second then as /dev/hdc (...and you aren't using kernel 2.6.20 or newer, right?). However, as told above, *YOU-DO-NOT* need an fstab entry for that, it is clearly a hardware issue- not a configuration one. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
