Hi and welcome on board.

Have you tried to go into MCC and check there?

You'll find it this way:

Mandriva menu -> System -> Configuration -> Configure your computer.

Type your root password when promted.

In MCC you find Hardware in the menu, in there you'll find Set up the graphical server and Change the screen resolution, and in Configure your monitor you proberly will find your monitor.

I hope this will help you.

You can also open a console, su to root, and type "nvidia-settings"

Make your changes and save them to your xorg file. It is all done in gui.

Non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) approach:

Backup your xorg.conf. Open a terminal, log in as root, then edit the xorg.conf file with an editor like vi, nano, kwrite or whatever you like.

Change this

	Subsection "Display"
	Depth 24
	Modes "1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "640x480" "480x360" "320x240"
EndSubsection

to this

	Subsection "Display"
	Depth 24
	Modes "1440x900" "1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "640x480" "480x360" "320x240"
EndSubsection

When you are done, hit ctrl+alt+backspace for restarting the X-server. If it works, fine. If it bombs out, delete the 1440x900 entry in xorg.conf again.
