Nvidia drivers problem

I have installed the nvidia drivers however they wouldn't start without modprobe so i read the faq in the readme and i have edited my /etc/modules.conf file to read

 

alias char-major-195 NVdriver

alias usb-interface usb-ohci

alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1

options hisax id=HiSax protocol=2

probeall scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi

alias ippp0 hisax

 

i'm using mandrake 8.2

 

i've posted this on teh other board but i've posted it here as well, just in case

bah i'm in windows atm (still gotta sort my isdn card out for linux) i'll have to post that later (gotta get some work done)

 

i used the 1.0-2960.tar.gz from nvidia's site

Your file above seems OK in fact you have the same card as me.

The latest tar file for 8.2 is : http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86_40/1.0-...1.0-3123.tar.gz

 

Which is different from the one you d-loaded, I sugest you try that or the pre-compiled rpm : http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86_40/1.0-....18_10.i386.rpm

If you try the above, remember to get the matching glx file and remove the old nvidia kernel before proceeding.

Arg, I have been trying to install the nvidia drivers on 9.0 and I am getting those silly symbols messages...hehehe, but seriously...what is wrong? It builds fine, but When I install it it just error essages for a lot of loaded modules.
