RadioEar
"CD Player" is an application in KDE 3.5. Mandriva 2007. CD player in KDE does not want to start. These are errors I get back; The CD player is unable to run correctly. Press 'Details' for more details on reasons for the failure. Press 'Set device' to go to a dialog where you can set the device, or press 'Quit' to quit the CD player If I choose "Details" then I get;The CD player is unable to run correctly. /dev/hdb does not appear to point to a valid CD device. This may be because: [a] CD support is not present in your machine You do not have the correct permissions to access the CD drive [c] /dev/hdb is not the CD drive. Press 'Set device' to go to a dialog where you can set the device, or press 'Quit' to quit the CD player If I press "Set device" then I get my CD-DVD rw, (Sony DVD RW DRU-800A) This device is set as root. It looks like the device is set but still no startup. KsCD works just fine... What's up? Ixthusdan
It is the program gnome-cd, and I could not see why it was looking at the wrong device. It identifies the cd device by name, but thinks it is /dev/hdb, where it should be /dev/hdc. festab is correct. It will not launch, and so I told RadioEar to use kscd. It works just fine!
