fahd
Hi folks! I mhave realized that i can not delete a file copied from windows xp partition. The owner and the group of that file is the same as the name of the owner (it is me). Suppose the name of this file is filename and the owner is called linuxuser. So when i type in the command ls , i get the following info: r-x r-x r-x filename linuxusrer linuxuser However i can not erase this file until i switch to root (su). Is it a bug or something else. It is very weird. Thanks a lot. Fahd [moved from Software by spinynorman]
Mhn
the first r-x means that the owner can read and execute the file, but not write to it (or delete it). The second r-x is for the group and the last is for everyone else. Take a look at this page, under Permissions.
