It is looking for the CDs and the version of rpmdrake mandriva 2007 shipped with was kinda bugged.....

Use easyurpmi to set up your mirrors again and than use the commandline to update:

urpmi.update -a

urpmi --auto-select

Good mirrors are anorien in the UK and distrib-coffee in France.

After this rpmdrake should work, else you can try Smart for package management....

Maybe root doesnt have write permissions on urpmi.cfg.

Type

ls -l /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg

It shall look something like

# ls -l /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6977 Jan 5 11:42 /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg

where the "w" in that position means root can write to it.

When ever you have unsuccessful dowloads due to Mirror problems, it is necessary to open MCC ......Software Management......Select from where software packages are downloaded when updating the system and delete the item that you are having problems with for example Main or Contrib....etc. If you try a couple of mirrors then you must do this again between each try.

Cheers. John.

Root has write perms, please see screen shot. Going to try a reboot quickly but I don't think that will work.

Did you try renaming the urpmi.cfg file as was suggested to you?

Also, use this command:

urpmq --list-media

it'll show what's supposedly configured on the system in case something borked while adding, as aussiejohn was suggesting.

However, if you can't remove anything with the removemedia -a command, I'd rename the file as was suggested to you, and try adding sources again. Maybe use the urpmq command I listed above after renaming it, to verify no mirrors are configured once the file has been renamed.
