You are not allowed to access system configuration

When I select Users and Groups I get the following message instead of a dialogue asking for my password:

 

 

The configuration could not be loaded

You are not allowed to access the system configuration.

 

Synaptic still asks for my password, how do I fix this?

Did you use/install that dreaded system screwer named Automatix?

yeah, I did. I also found the fix, I used the gnome menu tool too add gksu to the command, which must have somehow have disappeared, because it worked previously.

(K)Ubuntu is a very nice distro... it's a pity to destroy it by adding stuff by automatix.

Use the "hard", safe way... it just makes much more sense.

I agree with scarecrow. Especially when you do update and upgrade you can end in a big mess.

I'm not fond of these Automatix and Easy Ubuntu scripts/applications even though it makes easier to get codecs and flash. I have seen terrible disaster what happen when it really go wrong.

 

 

If you need help with some specific applications/codecs/etc. you need, just ask :)

Seems to be a better method than automatix/easy, just tells you things you might use/need and how to install and if there are any extra tidbits you might need to know.
