While changing styles in KDE somehow i now have lost the close, minimise and maximise buttons on the top of every window also i cannot type while running under the KDE gui what has gone wrong and how do i fix it

So I've never seen that problem. But typically, I look around in the .kde directory in my /home/myusername directory. Unless you have tons of settings, you probably won't mind deleting the entire directory as these are most just preferences specific to your login for KDE. But perhaps there's a specific file that you should be looking at.

 

For instance, I just got a pop-up message which I had disabled in KDE to come back by deleting an application profile in the .kde directory.

You'd think so but some apps actually keep thier data in .kde (IMHO stupid)

I usually prefer a rename, so it rekicks off the customisations and then copy back stuff I need and then delete the old .kde
