ianw1974 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Share Posted September 21, 2006 If you take /usr out of / you can reduce / from it's current of 5GB to around 2GB, it's wasted space otherwise. You can then reallocate it either to /usr or /home dependent on your needs. Although you won't need more than 20GB for /usr I would have thought, since my partition is no bigger than this at home, and it's around 50% used if not less - and I have most things installed. We are all noobs .... linux evolves and has so many parts that noone is an expert in everything. We are all always learning new cool stuff .. sometimes as John says we can get overwhelmed by how cool it is ... However IMHO a fast track to understanding more is through the CLI... and looking up the documentation for the commands (man <cmd> or info <cmd>) its not the only one though....
