Installing Programs in Mandriva

Thats because you need to do it from a command prompt. Open a command prompt, and then type:

 

su (enter root password when prompted)

 

now make sure you're in the directory where you downloaded the file, say for example /home/username/Download.

 

cd /home/username/Download

 

then, when you're in here, just do this:

 

sh filename.bin

 

where username equals your username, and filename equals the file you downloaded you want to install.

Click System/Terminals/Konsole - you need a command prompt, not right-clicking the option to do things.

 

Then, go to the directory, as I mentioned, and type what I said to install it.

It should be available from konqueror ... just click on the file then right click and you should get

an option open and choose other then just type sh in the box
