Guest siko9
Hi, I'm getting this message on boot-up: hdc dma_intr status=0x51 (DriveReady SeekComplete Error) hdc dma_intr status=0x84 (DriveStatusError BadCRC) the text may not 100 % accurate because it scrolls too fast. At the boot start there is the message telling the drive was clearly unmounted, the error msg shows up about the end of the boot secuence It is a fresh install, I checked the hard drive surface and it shows no errors. There is only 1 HD on secondary channel, so it is booting from hdc6. Can someone give a clue of what's going on and what can I do? Thanks in advance. siko9. Ixthusdan
This is a hardware problem, drive surface, pick-up, armature, something is not working correctly physically. Are there any other problems that you are having when launching programs? How did you verify the integrity of the hardware? What type of drive is it? Do you have any manufacture disks with utilities on it?
bvc
http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue76/tag/10.html I started getting the same error with my lfs (Linux From Scratch) install yesterday. I haven't backtraced my recent changes yet but there were many. All was well for a couple of days with lfs and all is well in ML9.0. Based on this and what I've read from a google advanced search (kernel mailing archives) it can be a number of things. So the first question to ask yourself is, what if any changes did you make to your sys prior to the errors? do a google advanced search for dma_intr status=0x51
Guest siko9
Hi, thanks for your answers It turned out the problem is caused by the mobile rack the HD is in. I checked the drive with Maxtor's PowerDiag and it was ok. Under these configurations, the errors do NOT appear" - The initial HD (quantum ict 20gb - udma 33) connected directly to the mainboard - The initial HD in a different Rack (udma 100) - A different HD (seagate 13gb) in the initial rack (udma 33) So I guess the prob is the combination of the HD with the mobile rack. I'll use it for a while to see what happens. Thank you again!
