shimshon
Hi, I downloaded the Israel Radio Toolbar extention from Firefox. Somehow the toolbar installs correctly but the radio button doesn't appear so I can't play radio. In windows it works perfectly. Am I missing some plugin or so? I do not get an error message. Thanks
scarecrow
Most likely you are missing the mplayer plugin for Firefox. http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/
shimshon
Downloaded this mplayer but it looks very difficult for me to install.
ffi
you can also try urpmi mplayerplugin Edited June 28, 2006 by ffi
shimshon
Did the urpmi. But the radio still doesn't work. Do I have to activate mplayer somehow. And where is it located, I can't find it.
scarecrow
Did the urpmi. But the radio still doesn't work. Do I have to activate mplayer somehow. And where is it located, I can't find it. Â It should be there, else a properly built mplayerplugin would not install without fetching mplayer first. Anyway: Open a root console, and updatedb locate mplayer Should be listed somewhere in /usr/bin If not: - Set up all your repositories, including PLF, using the easyurpmi link on top of the page. - urpmi mplayer Now, get sure that you have the non-native+ non-free media libs installed: - urpmi win32-codecs Or alternatively you can grab the full codec pack from the mplayer site and extract it at your codecs directory. shimshon
Well I did all of this but the radio is still not working. How do I open mplayer? And is mplayer really the problem?
scarecrow
You don't have to open mplayer- the browser will do it for you. I just tried the toolbar in my system (although I don't need it ) it to see if its a windows specific addon, and it works fine- I can see video, I can hear music... everything. ( mplayer-1.0pre8, mplayer-plugin 3.25, Firefox 1.5.0.4 ).
shimshon
Uninstalled and reinstalled the toolbar - it doesn't work?
ianw1974
You need this:  [ian@europa ~]$ rpm -qa | grep mplayer mplayerplugin-3.11-1mdk mplayer-1.0-1.pre7.20051220.0.1.20060plf [ian@europa ~]$ rpm -qa | grep codec win32-codecs-1.7-2plf  first, you need to do:  urpmi mplayerplugin  and also:  urpmi xine-win32  to get the win32 codecs installed correctly. When xine-win32 is installed, so shall the win32 codecs be installed. I do this on my system, and never have problems. However, the mplayerplugin is usually what is used within webpages within Firefox.  So, now I ask, what version of Firefox are you using? Did you manually install your own version? If so, what version and where? If not, and you are using the one that comes with Mandriva, then the plugins should be correctly linked with Firefox. Also, Firefox HAS to be closed, and that means all browser windows for the plugins to start working.  You can easily test this, by finding a webpage, with video or radio content and the mplayerplugin will pick up and play it. If that works, and the toolbar still fails, then it's due to the toolbar not inter-operating correctly with Linux and Firefox.
