Hi, i'm new to linux gaming and wine and i have a problem:

I've installed Diablo on mandriva2006 using 'wine /mnt/cd-rom/bla-bla-bla/setup.exe' . Now, when i try to play the game i can hear the sound but i get no picture... only intro movies.

Please help, this is my first try with wine!

I tend to use the windows method, because you'll have settings within wine that tell you what drive letter has been assigned to your cdrom, so:

wine "d:\path_to\game.exe"

the quotes are important, so use these. If unsure of CD-ROM drive letter, from console type:

winecfg

the info will all be in there somewhere under one of the tabs.

I'm not sure, cedega is the best choice for playing games. I would check wine compatibility list for the game, or visit cedega's website for more info.

Sometimes though the issues you experienced are normally resolved when you use the proper path, rather than the linux path to launch the program. If you've tried this, and it failed, I would check the wine/cedega websites to see if it's supported.

Looks like Diablo doesn't like Wine very much. I would jump straight to Cedega and see if that works.

Cedega is usually a better option for gaming anyway.

EDIT: Looks like cedega has some of the same problems. http://cedegawiki.sweetleafstudios.com/wiki/Diablo
