Guest smokestack
Im a little lost here and a newbie to linux. I have mandriva..the newest one i have been using it for about 6 months. My thing is i have one of those cheap motherboards that have the embeded video cards. The video card is a ProSavage8 3D.. I cant get open gl stuff to work. Like the screen savers and so on. When they come on they are really really slow. Its the same with any 3d application that i try to open. The mother board is a M824 v7.2. With the amd 3100 chip. Do i just need to find the drivers? And how do i install those? Thanks in advance
scarecrow
Can you copypaste your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please? And by the way, is mesa3d ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/mesa3d ) installed? (else you shouldn't expect any serious 3D/openGL acceleration with that card). ianw1974
The easiest way is go into System/Configuration/Packaging/Install Software and then click the All option, and then search for mesa. Select the mesa option, and it will select the necessary libmesa as well.
scarecrow
What about "urpmi Mesa" ? You can also "urpmi Mesa-demos" and get something to test your openGL performance, if GL screensavers and glxgears isn't enough for you. Your xorg.conf looks OK to me. By the way, does anyone know if savage cards support direct rendering? If they are, you could gain some performance by adding it to your configuration.
