kwlam
If I want to remove the usb drive, is it necessary to unmount it first? In windows, we cannot directly remove the usb drive. I have removed the usb drive without unmounting it, it seems that there is no problem. Is it correct? Also, for the floppy drive, is it necessary to unmount it before removing the floppy disc? arctic
It is not "necessary" to unmount the drive, but it is recommended, as otherwise, corrupted data might be written on the drive if it ain't unmounted properly. Usually, right-clicking on the drive and selecting "unmount drive" is all you need to to.
scarecrow
Actually the rightclick menu on KDE 3.5.0+ is "safely remove", which is quite alike windoze. For the floppy- no, it isn't.
