Adding DVD as source fails

Hi,

I am trying to add Mandriva 2006 DVD as a local source:

path to the DVD:

/DVD/media/main

relative path to hdlist:

../../media/media_info/hdlist1.cz

Whats wrong here?

Thanks

If your running 2006 on the machine already, there is another box you can tick which will make it a lot easier.

All I did, was put the CD/DVD in, and then I point it to the CD-ROM drive, tick this extra box, and all sorted.

I'm not on my system right now, so can't tell you exactly what the option is, but you should be able to find it :P

Oh, and welcome to the board :beer:

Nope, it is not that your eyes are bad (ianw1974) or /DVD does not exist (Reiver_Fluffi).

I have not explained it correctly may be, so I will try again.

I have copied the DVD to a local folder, so it is not in /mnt/cdrom, but in:

/home/user/DVD/media/main

and the relative path is:

relative path to hdlist:

../../media/media_info/hdlist1.cz

I have installed Mandriva 2006 from the CD set. Now I have the DVD and wanted to remove the CD sources and use the DVD only.

Hope now it is more clear

:)

maybe the name of the hdlist on your dvd is different, the hdlists on the cds are hdlist1/2/3 for cd 1/2/3, maybe the dvd uses just one single hdlist ?

yes, the DVD has 6 of them depeneding on what you want to add.

e,g,

hdlist1 is for media/main

hdlist2 is for media/applications and so on.

But it did not want to add none of them :(

are the packages themselves in different subfolders ? (don't have a dvd at the moment, sorry)

yes, the packages are in different folders. No problem that you do not have the DVD, I apriciate the help!

This directory is organized as follows:

|--> media/

| |--> main/ main binary packages

| |--> contrib/ contrib binary packages

| `--> media_info/ packages meta data

|--> install/

| |--> extra/ installation advertising images

| |--> images/ boot images

| `--> stage2/ ramdisk images of the installation

| `--> live/ installation program files

|--> isolinux/ isolinux boot images

|--> doc/ installation help files in various languages

|--> dosutils/ installation utilities for DOS

|--> misc/ source files, install trees

|--> VERSION current version number

|--> COPYING copyright information

|--> INSTALL.txt installation instructions

`--> README.txt this file in text mode

are there media_info folders within the main and contrib folders ?

on the mirrors there is a media_info folder containing additional hdlists in each the main and the contrib tree

if there are such folders on your dvd you could try the hdlists in these folders

did you try if the synthesis.hdlists work (just to check if it is a problem with the path)

maybe you can just specify the path to the packages and let rpmdrake search for the hdlists (just uncheck the relative path), sometimes this worked for me
