scarecrow
urpmi uses either http, or ftp mirrors (so far I've not seen any ssh/ssl/https mirror). So, the default ports are the obvious ones: 80 for http, and 21 for ftp.
ilia_kr
I found, that i can download the 'hdlist.cz' manually from a mirror using a web browser, but urpmi still cant do that. Any ideas?

arctic
There seems to have been a directory name change at some of the mirror sites, as the curl error indicates. Check the ftp-tree in your browser and take a look, if the path is really correct for 10.1 (maybe they removed 10.1 from the mirrors already or changed the path from Mandrakelinux to Mandrivalinux...) and check if there is only a hdlist or a synthesis-hdlist available, too. Go to previous folders if the browser cannot connect to the ftp-site (start at ftp://mandrake.contactel.cz/ and continue to explore the tree). ilia_kr
Finally, I did it !!! That's what i got: [root@Linux ilia]# urpmi.addmedia --wget main ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/linu x/distributions/mandrake/10.1/i586/media/main with media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz added medium main computing md5sum of existing source hdlist (or synthesis) retrieving source hdlist (or synthesis) of "main"... ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/linux/distributions/mandrake/10.1/i586/media/main/media_info/ synthesis.hdlist.cz found probed hdlist (or synthesis) as media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz ...retrieving done examining hdlist file [/var/cache/urpmi/partial/hdlist.main.cz] examining synthesis file [/var/cache/urpmi/partial/hdlist.main.cz] examining pubkey file of "main"... found 0 headers in cache removing 0 obsolete headers in cache write config file [/etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg] [root@Linux ilia]# I assume tha is what i should see in the end, wright? Anyway, the problem & the solutions: - unproperly configured NAT at the router (i opened port 21 and NATted it to linux box) - curl didn't work for me, so i switched to wget Thank you all for helping me!!!
