How to repair dual boot to Windows

I resized the NFS partition to give more space to Linuix, and not I cannot boot into Windows. I have windows backed up (as well as Linux). I also have a reinstall CD for windows. So, I used the Windows CD reinstall and repair program. It seemed to go throught the process okay but when I restart the computer and the dual boot screen comes up it won't load Windows. I get a screen with small rectangles. Anyway, is there a way I can repair the boot without reinstalling Mandriva. Forttunately, Mandriva 2006 is running fine.

Have you defraged your Windows partition before changing its size? If not, some important files might have been damaged. In that case, afaik, the only solution is to reinstall Windows, which should not be overly problematic. Pop in the 1st Mandriva-CD and hit F1. Go to the advance options and restore the Windows bootloader. Now reinstall XP where you want it to reside. Once you are done, reboot with the Mandriva-CD again, hit F1 once more and reinstall the Mandriva bootloader. That should be all you need to do. Remember to take a look at the FAQ section of this board. There will be more information.

I did forget to defrag until it was too late. I don't know what all this means:

"you should not touch externally an NTFS partition which has enabled the embedded NTFS file encryption and/or compression,"

but I've learned my lesson. I'm still strying to reinstall windows through the "repair" option and it hasn't worked, so far. I did go through the Linux install repair including the boot part. The boot still doesn't work, so I have more work to do. Any more suggestions will be appreciated.
