Steve Scrimpshire
Suddenly I'm having this trouble with Kwrite/Kate highlighting text with the mouse. The highlighted portion is only as wide as the lower smallest line width. If the smaller line is above, it's ok. Here are some screen shots to show what I mean. It doesn't happen with anything else as far as I know. In order to update kwrite, I have to update kde-base, and that causes me all kinds of circular dependency issues. Any ideas other than reinstalling kwrite?

Steve Scrimpshire
I just upgraded kdebase from 2.2.1-7mdk to 2.2.1-7.1mdk and I still have the same problem with kwrite/kate. I've tried deleting the *.rc files to no avail. Guess I'll have to find another favorite editor.
Steve Scrimpshire
I deleted my .kde directory in ~ and now kwrite works.
kmack
Sorry you ended up without any feedback, but I sure couldn't see anything that would cause that to happen. For future reference: What type of mouse were you using? Was this after the recent Mandrake update to KDE 3.0.5a ? or to KDE 3.1? That might help others that end up with same or a similar problem. Glad your problem is solved. I rely on Kate a good bit myself.
johnnyv
I have never seen that with kwrite, and i use it most days at work, it my favorite code editor.
Steve Scrimpshire
I use a Microsoft optical mouse (PS/2 Compatible), but I don't think that matters. It was only one user that had the problem. It happened without any updates (maybe QT). Klipper also died after updating KDE2 (I updated it to try to solve the kwrite problem), so I got fed up and switched over to Gnome...lol.
